Overview
The Tigers room is our pre-Kindy room where children’s independence is encouraged and nurtured. The program is based on individual observations, the interests and needs of the children and their individuality and developmental stages. This information is then adapted into a daily program that is set to the goals outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework. Children at this age are learning important independence skills and with repetition can acquire competency, success and autonomy for personal care such as learning to dress and toilet themselves and take responsibility for packing up their own toys and activities. They are rapidly producing language and need simple books, puzzles and pictures. The children in the Tigers are also very active and enjoy jumping, running, dancing, climbing, using large muscles and requiring lots of space. They are also building social relationships with their peers and will seek out specific friends to interact with. In the Tigers room, we will also challenge the children to develop new skills and introduce skills to prepare them for our pre prep room. The Tigers room has access to an interactive whiteboard which enhances the children’s learning and their use of technology in their learning. The Tigers children have access to two separate yards to provide an unlimited number of outdoor play activities and options. Children’s gross motor skills are fostered and encouraged as are shared learning experiences with other rooms.
