Overview

Our Monkeys room is one of our younger rooms catering to small toddlers. It has a bottle preparation space, a nappy changing area and a dedicated cot/sleep room for those younger children who are more comfortable sleeping in a cot or are transitioning from the routine in the Hippos room.

The Monkeys room is fully stocked with appropriate toys and resources appropriate for the developmental stages of the children in the room.

We offer a variety of different activities and programs utilising art and craft experiences, music and movement, small and larger group times, one-on-one activities all of which are designed to foster gross and fine motor development and development of social and emotional skills.

The Monkeys room has its own private, fully fenced and specially designed yard providing opportunities for various outdoor play experiences and is also able to be utilised for outside play in inclement weather and allows children to still experience the outdoors without being exposed to rainy or wet weather.

Monkeys’ Aims

Our program is based on the 5 learning outcomes of the Early Years Learning Framework and aims to:

  • Extend children’s interests, skills and abilities;
  • Provide an atmosphere where children can bring their culture and home life into our environment;
  • Create a safe and secure environment; and
  • Meet high quality measures of assessment and rating.

Room Goals

The program is based on individual observations, the interests and needs of the children and their individuality and developmental stages. This information is then adapted into a daily program that is set to the goals outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework.

Children at this age are learning important independence skills and with repetition can acquire competency, success and autonomy for personal care such as learning to feed themselves, using large gross motor skills, fine motor skills and take responsibility for packing up their own toys and activities. They are rapidly producing language and need simple books, puzzles and pictures. The children in the Monkeys room are also very active and enjoy, crawling, jumping, running, dancing, climbing, using large and small muscles requiring lots of space. They are also building social relationships with their peers and will seek out specific friends to interact with.

Daily Program

On a daily basis, Educators in the room will write and sent out stories and Observations with photos and/or videos of what the children have been exploring and learning throughout the day.

On a regular basis, Educators will send families personal observations on their children (Note: these individual observations are only sent to the child’s family).

Focus

Children’s learning is directed by the children’s interests, therefore, we provide focussed activities lead by what the children are enjoying at the time.

In the Monkeys room, we focus on creating warm and inviting environments to allow the children to form positive relationships with their Educators and to make their day at Tiny Tiger a positive and memorable experience.

What is the childcare subsidy?

The Child Care Subsidy is provides higher levels of financial support to the families who earn the least, in order to make the process of returning to work less financially difficult. More importantly, this initiative gives your child an opportunity to take advantage of the benefits of an early childhood education. Family life is busy – in between juggling work and family life, there’s not a lot of time left to catch up on legislative changes, so we’ve outlined them for you.

The system is income and ‘activity-based’, giving families access to either 36, 72 or 100 hours of subsidised care per fortnight, based on the hours of combined work, training or study undertaken.

How much will I get back?

Your CCS is calculated using three components:

  • Your combined family income
  • Your level of ‘activity’
  • Your childcare provider’s hourly rate

The amount of subsidy you receive depends on your circumstances.
