My Inspiration:

Everyday in the early childhood industry is a brand new adventure. Young children keep you active, and they keep you learning and from a very young age I knew this was the career I wanted. I have always thrived to make a positive, inspiring impact on children’s lives and working in the early childhood industry gives me the opportunity to do just that.

It doesn’t matter what challenges you are facing or what struggles you are having, as soon as you arrive at work and you are greeted with all the smiling faces and cuddles from the children, your problems soon disappear. Working in an industry where you create secure, trusting relationships with the children is such a reward. Each and every child I have ever cared for has a special place in my heart. My heart has never been so full until working in this industry. It really is such a privilege to help shape these little minds and help guide them into their own individual little people.

While we try to teach children all about life, children teach us what life is all about!

My Interests:

If I’m not spending time with my son, you can find me engaging in physical activities, being outdoors especially by the ocean and spending time with family and friends.

Who is your favourite cartoon character and why?

Tommy pickle! He is the courageous, compassionate, intelligent leader of the Rugrats, and always leads his friends during adventures and knows what to do in most situations with a never ending positive mind set. He also happens to be only one year old, which gives him an endlessly interesting perspective on life, being a baby.

Statement of Philosophy

As an Educator I respect each child as an individual as well as part of a group. I will do everything I can to help children gain their sense of belonging while I provide a warm, nurturing, healthy, safe, and happy environment. I will provide opportunities for children to explore, discover, create, and imagine. I will always aim to provide constant comfort and support and work with the individual child to build a trusting secure relationship, showing them, they are safe, secure, supported and cared for while in my care. Security and trust are very important components as well of my relationship with each child. Children need the assurance of being loved and cared for while they are enjoying an educational environment.

I acknowledge, respect, and extend on each child’s strengths, interest, skills, and abilities while focusing on their developmental areas and teaching them to explore, imagine and create.

I am a strong believer in children learning through play and exploration, linking with Piaget’s theories, believing that children need to be able to see, touch, taste, smell, move and hear the things they are learning about. This is called “concrete learning”.

Teaching and caring for children is my passion and it is a blessing to be able to watch children learn and grow daily while thriving in an educational environment.

In planning my program, I will strive for a developmentally appropriate, child centred atmosphere where children can master new challenges through activities and topics meaningful to them while they build their self-esteem as they develop and learn.
